Karate

After years of doing little exercise I decided to start thinking about getting back into shape. So in Oct 2007 I joined a local karate club, Kaizendo Karate, and never looked back. When I joined Kaizendo I did not realise that Karate is made up of many styles, the main ones practiced these days being Shotokan, Goju Ryu, Wado Ryu and Shukokai. At Kaizendo Karate we practice Shukokai.

Shukokia was founded after the second world war by Master Chojiro Tani from Japan. Master Tani sort to perfect his style by studying the mechanics of the human body and developed techniques which can be delivered with maximum efficiency. It is an incredibity difficult style to master, and requires many hours of dedicated training a week.

Golf

I started to finally learn to play golf in 2009, after my mother sadly lost her battle against cancer. It’s a great way to spend time with my dad, and it’s something we now both enjoy. Playing at least once a week, time and commitments allowing.

I must admit that it is one of the most frustrating games to play, and it’s true that it takes ages to master. I still have bad days, and more often than not I have terrible days, what with lost balls, and miss hits.
